DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair Review
The DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair is a high-quality, ergonomic gaming chair designed for comfort and support during long gaming sessions. It features a durable steel frame, high-density shaping foam, and a comfortable, breathable fabric cover. It also includes a high-backrest design and a tilt and recline function for optimal seating position.
Additionally, it comes with adjustable armrests and a built-in lumbar support cushion for extra comfort. The chair is suitable for gamers and office workers who spend long hours sitting in front of a computer.
Take a Closer Look at DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair
In our closeup of the DXRacer Formula OH/FE7/NG Gaming Chair, let’s first look at a few of the accessories they have included. Here I have the DXRacer neck pillow and the back lumbar support pillow. If you look to the right of the neck pillow, they have included a clip that will allow you to mount the neck pillow through the harness openings on the chair.
DXRacer stitched a tag into each chair so they can be identified for its models. In our case, I have the Formula OH/FE57/NG. At the base of the seat, the Formula model I received is designed to fit the modest body frame. DXRacer does offer seat sizes in narrow and wide frames as well, so you can pick one that suits your needs.
If you haven’t already noticed, the chair that I received has a carbon fiber look, imported PU leather material that is used to wrap our chair. If you don’t know what PU Leather is, it’s a synthetic blend of Polyurethane and Leather also known as BiCast Leather. I found this to be a nice touch especially if you are into the carbon fiber look without sacrificing the quality compared to the standard vinyl I typically find. Our DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair also features a bucket seat style as I see with typical racing seats in cars.
I find a nice flow of the carbon fiber-look, imported PU material wrapping this chair. Now if you are not into the carbon fiber look, DXRacer does offer other color choices so don’t be drawn away just yet. The stitching DXRacer used is typical of what I find in racing seats; however, I also like that they use a tube-style design to stitch off the ends and around the chair.
To give you the full effect, I installed both the back lumbar support and the neck pillow. Installation of the next pillow has 2 methods which I will show you. You can also use the provided clip and install the pillow through the harness holes.
Package and Contents
Let’s first go over the package that arrived from DXRacer; the box that it arrived in was massive… I mean this box is huge. DXRacer ships in a typical brown box and we all know what that looks like so we’re not going to show that here.
The box also shows the type of chair that has been packaged. In our case, it was the F-Series otherwise known as the Formula Series chair.
Unpacking the box was no challenge. However… do be careful not to use a razor as the contents can be cut into. Be sure to keep that in mind and there is a label on the box informing you as well. Once I got the package open it was time to pull everything out. Pulling out each piece of the DXRacer Formula Racing chair was more exciting piece by piece. When I finally got everything out of the box I couldn’t wait to put everything together. I have to give credit to DXRacer for packing the contents for safe transport.
Going further along, I also found all of the essentials to get the chair put together such as the support, gas hydraulic post, and covers. The base support here also has a tension adjustment in case you want to rock in your chair. I find this to be pretty common with most office chairs nowadays.
Installation
When it comes to the assembly of the DXRacer Formula Chair, the first thing I made sure to do was look over the manual to make sure I had all the hardware I needed. Once you have all the parts and tools down I recommend that you start from the bottom and work your way up.
Installation of the wheels was the easy part. The wheels are pushed into the base and snap into place. This is also the same when it comes to the footrest pads. They are snapped into place with the base in the pre-drilled holes.
Moving onto the seat side, at the bottom of the seat’s base I find the 4 screws that are already in place. You will need to unscrew them so you can install the base mount which will be attached to the Hydraulic post. The chair’s arm rest are already screwed into place but if you need to make any adjustment it can be done here. I will not that there isn’t a lot of play here.
Next, lining up the back support of the chair was the hardest challenge since I was working on this by myself, but it can be done with a little bit of patience. Make sure to line up each screw without tightening it down all the way so this gives you a little wiggle room for small adjustments.
Last but not least, our chair is complete. All in all, if we had to install this chair again without stopping in between to take pictures, it probably would have taken us maybe 20-25mins to put together. It’s not really hard to do, and anyone who knows how to put simple furniture together can do it.
Features
Now let’s talk about some of the features. The fully reclinable Formula Gaming Chair was a nice touch. While reclining to a full 170 degrees is not needed, it’s nice to have the option and its stability was not of any issue. The height adjustments of both the seat and armrest are plentiful and will leave plenty of room for all types of body styles… whether you are short, tall, slim, husky, or all of the above.
Let’s touch on comfort a little bit more. Being that I work in the office most days and sit in front of a computer for 4 to 5 hours at a time without getting up, I have to say that it is one of the more comfortable chairs I have sat in. Typically with my regular leather office chair, I would have to get up and walk around every other hour or so otherwise I would start to have back pain. But with the DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair, I didn’t have to do that.
The back lumbar support pillow helps greatly in this arena. Also with all the adjustment features, the chair is very comfortable. If I had to nitpick about one thing with the DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair, it’s that during long-term use, I did get a little warm due to the imported PU Leather. But this doesn’t take away from DXRacer as ALL leather chairs will do this over long lengths of sitting.
Conclusion
To wrap things up on the DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair, let’s go back and talk about its aesthetics. When it comes to its looks, fit, and feel I give the DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair an A+. The carbon fiber look and imported PU Leather wrap can be a pretty subjective taste, but I really liked it, and it makes for an awesome gaming chair aesthetically. The stitching along with its final touches are all top-notch. The embroidering of the DXRacer logo adds to the final touch to give it awesome appeal.
When it came to its installation, the chair was easy to assemble. Just be sure to take your time and read the manual and understand how the hardware works. If you follow all its instructions you won’t run into any issues. If I didn’t have to stop and take pictures for the review, I’d say it should take only 20-25mins tops from beginning to end. But in our case, I took roughly 45mins-1hr from beginning to end even with the pictures.
Overall, I have to say that the DXRacer Formula Gaming Chair is one of the more comfortable chairs I have used. It’s a unique design that strays away from the traditional office chair and is what really makes DXRacer stand out. The Formula Gaming Chair does a great job of looking unique but also provides additional comfort.
