Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 8GB RAM Overview
The Intel P67 Sandy Bridge platform has produced quite a few changes from what we’ve seen on previous Intel platforms, from performance to overclocking. And a new socket always brings new memory kits to hit the market, and the 2nd Generation Intel Core family of processors is no exception.
Corsair is known for producing a wide range of memory products to suit just about any performance need or budget. So it really should come as no surprise their newest series, named Vengeance, takes aim at both of these criteria simultaneously.
The Vengeance DDR3 series comes in Dual and Triple Channel configurations, ranging from 4GB to 16GB kits, and are currently available in 1600MHz and 1866MHz speeds. Today we’re looking at an 8GB kit running at 1600MHz in that’s geared toward the new Sandy Bridge platform.
These new modules sport an aggressive aesthetic and sleek black heat spreader. The really interesting thing is this 8GB kit only costs $105, one of the least expensive on the market in this speed range.
Larger capacity, attractive styling, and a great price……are these Corsair Vengeance modules the next big thing? Let’s find out.
From Corsair: “Corsair Vengeance DDR3 memory modules are designed with overclockers in mind. Vengeance DIMMs are built using RAM specially selected for their high-performance potential. Aluminum heat spreaders help dissipate heat and provide the aggressive look that you want in your gaming rig.
As a bonus, the attractive low price of Vengeance memory will also leave lots of room in your system build budget. Most Vengeance DIMMs are built with two gigabit RAM ICs. These extra-dense memory chips allow you to have 8GB of memory using only two DIMMs, or to populate your triple channel system with up to an insanely large 24GB of system memory for extreme multitasking performance.”
