That card is a monster!!! I wish they would've thrown COD MW3 and Skyrim in the mix since those are primarily the games I play when I do game.

Also, yes I know intel for gaming right now, it would've been nice to results with an AMD chip for those of us running AMD comps.

OLd news, Kevin already posted a link and photos last week. If the GTX690 is costs $1000 you can expect a very hefty price tag on this card, maybe $1100- $1200.

Corey, my EVGA Classified GTX 590s only take up 2 slots, the same as a HD7950, or GTX670, and it's a dual. Not all 7990s will be using 3 slots, just the ones with an extreme custom cooling fan set up.

I would never get a dual GPU card if it took up the slots l

LOL! If I were to get enough performance out of the deal, they could take four slots for all I care.

But four slots would be the same as two 7970s which would perform about the same and cost less, and they run so hot I'd put it under water which is why I would want it to only take 2 slots because I could run quad 7970s on a board with only two PCI slots

Most mother boards now a day allot for the 3 spacing to run Crossfire and SLI set-up. Look at the new boards. The spacing between to the PCIe slots are spaced farther (for most boards in the Z77 series), My MSI Z77-GD65 will support 2 3 slot video cards. So your not limited because of that... Some of the older boards may, but even most Z68 boards are spaced good for 3 slot video cards.

I think you have it backwards. One 7990 takes 1 slot. There is 2 GPU's on on PCB.... 4 x 7970's(4 slots) = 2 x 7990's(2 slots). Although benchmarks show a slight improvement on the dual 7970's, the performance is essentially the same. The 7990's come clocked down a bit due to heat. At the same frequencies 1 x 7990 benchmarks the same as 2 x 7970's.

Hey Stan, this a full length review not just a press release. Review says the card will cost $999, and finds it performs nearly identical to the 690. Draw back is this card takes up more slot, makes more noise, and runs a little hotter. 690 is still a slightly better card.

OK Polo. 7970's cannot be put slot to slot. There is NO AIR FLOW so a 7990 takes essentially the same space(actually less). Those using 7990's or multiple 7970's would use boards like the Gigabyte UD7 or ASRock Extreme 9 or 11. I do not know where the confusion lies. A 7990 performs the same as a 7970 and uses less room.

What Jim said. Problem here isn't space or performance when compared to 2 x 7970's. The problem for the 7990 is price. Right now you can buy 2 x 7970's with factory overclocks for less than one 7990, and those two cards will perform the same or better than the 7990.

they perform the same. Like metioned, the 7990 has lower clocks at default. Bump them to same clocks as 7970 and they perform equal not better.

From what i've seen in the reviews of this card is that using 2 in crossfire might be a problem since it requires a support beam to remove stress on the pcie slot. That is if im reading reviews correctly
