GTX 770 motherboard compatibility

So in the process of figuring out what is causing my gaming rig not to boot I tried putting some parts in my parent's older PC. It's an old DDR2 Asus board with an Athlon x64 3200 dual core, I put my PSU and GTX 770 in there to see if it would work, it boots up and runs fine for about 5 minutes...

Asus 4870 6 Pin Connector
