Sapphire Dual-X R9 285 OC Review

Introduction The graphics card market has been getting properly shaken up since the release of the new GTX 900 series Maxwell cards, but that doesn’t mean that AMD doesn’t still have a few tricks left up their sleeves. AMD has been diligently at work refreshing and modernizing their GPU lineup, and their most recent efforts have produced for us the Tonga core; a more power efficient and better binned GPU core which, like AMD as a whole, is capable of more than what its specs would suggest. Think of it like this: you get the raw power and value of Tahiti, plus the features of Hawaii and beyond… I can’t really think of anything wrong with that picture if you ask me.   For this review, I’ll be taking a look at Sapphire’s take on the new core. Their Dual-X R9 285 OC comes overclocked out-of-the-box, equipped with a great cooling solution that has withstood the test of time, and utilizes a more robust, custom-designed PCB that should help us take this card to the next level. Let’s see just what this card has to offer, and see if the claims of better performance than the GTX 760 hold true for our testing.     www.sapphiretech.com SAPPHIRE Technology is well established as a leading manufacturer and world-wide supplier of innovative graphics and mainboard products for over a decade. Its AMD Radeon based products are just as well known in the mainstream PC markets as they are to the gaming and performance graphics enthusias...

Nexus LAN Live- Dayton Ohio

Ohio gets put down so often I just stopped caring. Turn on a movie to see some smart mouth have something to say about Cleveland or jokes about Columbus being a cow town. Keep on making jokes buddy, Ohio has something most of the States don’t have and may never get the chance to. No it is not the many LAN events Ohio host every year, like Nexus and LANOC, we have something much bigger. Major League Gaming has purchased and setup an arena right here in Columbus Ohio. MLG.tv Columbus Arena is a 14,000 sq. ft venue!!! Does your state have that? Nope because as of right now it is the only MLG.TV facility in the US. One is NYC is coming soon. I sit here with some of the coolest nerds, geeks, techies or whatever name you wish to give them, knowing that we are on the forefront of being a major location for Esports worldwide. Nexus is filled with people that will travel an hour to Columbus for COD tourneys. Bring it on. Thanks Nexus for hosting PureOC. Check out some of these pics as things setup to play all night. If you are within a few hours of Dayton, you should try to make it next year. Or to LanOC. Both sell out quickly. http://www.nexuslan.org/ or http://lanoc.org/lan-parties   Here is the system I put together for Nexus LAN. Computer Ed from Sapphire and I both agreed to go with smaller systems…… My idea of small is kind of different… :} Will be getting some pics of Eds rig here shortly. He ran off somewhere. I crammed a Ek 45mmx360mm rad insid...

Sapphire R7 250 Ultimate Review

Introduction: With the release of a new generation of graphics cards there can be so much fan-fare and attention paid to the higher end offerings that lower end models get overlooked. System enthusiasts and hardcore gamers rarely even think of the models that can’t crank out maximum FPS or look awesome in a huge water cooled system. Some may be surprised to know there are GPUs for everyday people and entry level gaming. Shocking isn’t it? The vast majority of GPUs are of the integrated type, sold within the CPU/APU. Research has shown 50% of these IGP (Integrated Graphics Processors) go unused in favor of more robust discrete solutions. That is what we will be looking into today, a discrete solution that can offer more graphical prowess than any integrated solution. Its other defining characteristic is that it can do this in total silence. We are referring to the Sapphire R7 250 Ultimate silent GPU. Specs: Display Support 3 x Maximum Display Monitor(s) support Output 1 x HDMI (with 3D) 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 1 x Dual-Link DVI-I GPU 800 MHz Core Clock 28 nm Chip 512 x Stream Processors Video Memory 1024 MB Size 128 -bit GDDR5 4.5 MHz Effective Dimension 185(L)X120(W)X50(H) mm Size. 2 x slot Software Driver CD   Innovation, performance and value for money have always made SAPPHIRE the supplier of choice for enthusiast graphics. Sapphire Vapor-X R9 270X

Introduction   One of the keys to a successful technology business is reaching out to customers. Get them interested in the product or services you are offering, and then close the deal by selling them the product or service. In this day and age, which is full of technology junkies, this seems incredibly easy. In most cases it is that easy. Something new and shiny hits the market and we drool on our keyboards. However there are some folks who remain reluctant for a very important reason, follow-through. They wonder if a company will follow-through by providing the best product or service for their hard earned money? If the company accomplishes the sometimes unspoken promise, then the deal is truly complete. There is a company that has a proven track record of doing just that year after year, product after product. Today we will see if Sapphire Technology can continue the tradition of providing a great value and performance for your hard earned dollars. Following the launch of the new AMD Hawaii based GPUs, Sapphire sent us its new Vapor-X R9-270x so we can measure its commitment to excellence. From Innovator to Excellence over 10 years! SAPPHIRE Technology was first formed as a manufacturer and global supplier of graphics cards when ATI (now a division of AMD) adopted the Add-in Board partner (AIB) model for delivering its technology to market.
