I Think NZXT is Building PCs for Consumers Now, Introducing BLD

I’m not exactly sure what the black magic is behind this, but the end result is that it seems NZXT is providing pre-built systems to consumers now. I ran through the process and I have to say that I don’t know if you can make the concept of building a PC easier for a gamer. On the other hand, I felt like some recommendations were a tad light on the GPU end and I didn’t notice Ryzen in the list of components yet. What can I say though, is that I’ve built my own PCs for so long that I can’t help but be biased, yet I can come just short of guaranteeing that what NZXT will offer will be immensely better than buying a Dell. Check out the rest of the press release for the details and a link to BLD. Introducing BLD from NZXT A recommendation engine that delivers the PC tailored for the games you play EMBARGOED UNTIL JUNE 6th, 2017 @ 7:00AM PST Los Angeles, CA – June 6th, 2017 –NZXT today launches BLD, the easiest way to get into PC gaming and play the games you want to play enjoying guaranteed gaming performance.BLD (pronounced “Build”) allows users who don’t have the time necessary to build a gaming-ready DIY PC. By leveraging over 10 million and counting analyzed gaming hours, BLD’s unique recommendation engine accurately predicts a system’s gaming performance so you can spend less time researching, troubleshooting and setting up. Start by choosing the games you want to play, at the performance settings you desire, then set a budg...

Gigabyte BRIX Gaming VR Wins d&i Award Ahead of Computex

I know pre-built systems aren’t our thing usually, but I had to post this PR because Gigabyte has an impressive little device on their hands. Honestly, if I had the spare cash, this would be my LAN party machine for game days (that I hardly ever have anymore) or my editing station for travel. Shoot, it would even sub as a great paper-weight that does so much more than holding paper. The internal heatsink in this device was fantastic, allowing high performance hardware to run cooler than most, if not all, mini-PCs can handle. Check out the info on the award below and while we won’t be able to get to Computex this year, we will be keeping an eye on the news! GIGABYTE Mini PC Recognized for Outstanding Form & Function City of Industry, California, May 2nd, 2017 – GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, is excited to announce that the BRIX Gaming VR has won a d&i award ahead of Computex 2017. This soon to be released Mini PC exemplifies the spirit of the d&i awards with its combination of gaming prowess and aesthetically pleasing design. Thanks to its small size of only 2.6L and powerful hardware, the BRIX Gaming VR miniature PC is perfect for use in VR setups, especially for standing and “room-scale” VR. This Mini PC packs a powerful NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 1060 into a sleek, black, brushed aluminum chassis with orange highlights. Its subdued but sporty look can fit into any room, whether a room ...

bequiet! Dark Rock 3 190W TDP

Introduction: One name that comes to mind when you are talking about superior air cooling performance is bequiet!. As you may already know, bequiet! has now become one of the industry leaders with their Dark Rock series of high performance air coolers. Well bequiet! is at it again, entering the ring with a new middleweight contender called the Dark Rock 3. It is a single stack profile in a push configuration which is geared for those higher end rigs and gaming cases that offer very little space around the CPU area. Today we will be taking an up close and personal look at another addition to the bequiet! family of coolers. The Dark rock 3 is a single tower mid-size cooler that includes the same technologies we have seen in bequiet!’s larger builds with their wave contour fin designs. The Dark rock 3 sports a 190w TDP and smaller profile, done in the same dark nickel plating. Six high performance heat pipes are embedded within the block, along with bequiet!’s signature black aluminum top. All this is packed together in a smaller footprint. Biostar HiFi Z97WE Motherboard Review

Introduction The Z97 chipset motherboards have now gone into full swing, and with the Haswell refresh we saw a lot of new flavor in motherboard choices this time around. Today, we are going to be looking at the Biostar HiFi Z97WE Motherboard. At first glance, we have to be honest here… we didn’t really like the color combination Biostar used with the HiFi Z97WE Motherboard. The gold heatsinks with its yellow and black accents really don’t go well together aesthetically speaking. However, putting the aesthetics aside we are going to put the Biostar HiFi Z97WE to the test in terms of performance and see how well it stacks up with other Z97 Motherboards we have already tested. So before we dive in for a closer look, let’s talk about who Biostar is: In 1980,the IT industry was growing at a phenomenal rate. With wide experience in buying and selling electronic parts as well as researching on future demands for mainboards and add-on cards , the founder of BIOSTAR GROUP,established BIOSTAR MICROTECH INTERNATIONAL CORP in 1986. In the early years, BIOSTAR concentrated on the manufacture of mainboards built for XT form factor. To maintain steady business growth, BIOSTAR managed to keep a large portion of its capital and manpower invested on the design and development of new products, which at the same time has enabled it to stay competitive in the rapid evolution of the computer industry. BIOSTAR has enriched its competence in the design and manufacture of p...

Be Quiet! Gives their case a name.

It finally has a name…. At this past Computex in Taipei, Be Quiet! surprised many of us by showing off a custom design case. Nice clean lines, angled top cover, smooth front surface, matte black paint job with a bright contrasting orange trim and out cropped feet, did wonders for creating a bit of buzz. The case with no name would be their introduction into the already crowded and competitive chassis market. This is a divergence from Be Quiet!’s bread and butter, performance fans and power supplies with whisper quiet operation. We should have been expecting Be Quiet to join in the fray as noise reduction among enthusiast reaches epic importance, what better way to start a silent system other then the body that will hold everything else. There has been some speculation on the naming of this mystery chassis based on Be Quiet!’s previous products such as the Shadow Rock, Dark Rock, Dark Power, Silent Wing and Shadow Wing, true to form, Be Quiet! drops the name right in the middle of their naming convention, “Silent Base 800”. Why Silent Base 800? I would guess that it is silent, past that I have no clue. Guess we will have to wait until October, the expected release date, to find out more. What we do know is that it will be available in Black/Black, Black/Silver and Black/Orange (Just in time for Halloween). Surprisingly there is no mention of a Black/Red affair to coordinate with the vast majority of boards sold today. I leave you to check out t...

Gigabyte Aivia Krypton Gaming Mouse & Gaming Pad

How many of you remember the the Speed Skating at the last winter Olympics? As a young man during my High School years I did some speed skating of my own... strapping on those skates and racing against others on the clean fresh ice was an exhilarating and rewarding experience, especially when I won. If the conditions of the ice beneath my feet were right, and my skates were sharp it was easier to get in "the zone." The slightest tweak could help me out-maneuver, speed past, and beat my opponents to the finish line. When gaming on a PC you also look for those same slight tweaks that might help you get in the zone and provide that extra edge over your opponents.
