Gigabyte Radeon HD 7790
Introduction AMD’s current 7000 generation cards have matured rather nicely for the most part, and now we’re looking at the latest addition to the lineup, with the Radeon HD 7790. It’s a more budget-oriented card, positioned against Nvidia’s GTX 650 Ti which hasn’t had much competition of late. It seems AMD has designed this card purposely to compete both in performance and price in the $150 bracket, targeted at mainstream consumers who want some moderate gaming without breaking the bank. Specifically we’re examining the Gigabyte HD 7790. It comes with a sleek little cooler and a factory overclock. What’s particularly enticing is this Gigabyte card qualifies for an AMD promotional offer that tosses in an A+ gaming title in Bioshock Infinite worth $60 into the package. That sounds like a great deal, even if the performance isn’t terribly groundshaking as a more budget-oriented card. Let’s take a closer look at the Gigabyte HD 7790 and see how it fares.

GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today launched its latest HD series motherboards, bringing unprecedented dual digital display support, including HDMI and DVI, to a range of value segment motherboard models. The new GIGABYTE HD motherboard series defies the current ethos that means true digital display outputs are reserved for upper mainstream models, adding both HDMI and DVI ports to a range of motherboard models at attractive and affordable price points. All DIY enthusiasts can now enjoy true HD display capability using the most commonly integrated digital output technologies on today’s HD displays and TVs. “The new GIGABYTE HD motherboard series means our customers can get much more bang-per-buck from their value segment motherboards,”commented Henry Kao, Vice President of GIGABYTE Motherboard Business Unit. “Adding dual digital display ports to this segment really sets GIGABYTE apart from the competition, raising the bar for value segment motherboard design.” Making Digital Display Support a Standard Feature Digital output technologies like HDMI are becoming the de-facto standard on most HDTVs and PC monitors, with the advantage of carrying both HD audio* and video signals over a single cable. GIGABYTE Thunderbolt™ Desktop PC Motherboards First to Support 4K Resolution Displays
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today announced that their dual Thunderbolt series of motherboards support 4K resolution monitors in configurations derived from two Mini DisplayPort connectors, each capable of 2K resolution output. Testing was successfully carried out at GIGABYTE’s regional facility in Tokyo, Japan with the EIZO FDH3601 high resolution color monitor that is designed for air traffic control and geophysical services. “Desktop PC motherboards are all about cutting edge features, performance, and upgradeability, and this is why GIGABYTE was the first motherboard company to adopt dual Thunderbolt ports instead of the single port option,” commented Tim Handley, Deputy Director of Motherboard Marketing at GIGABYTE. “When combined with other innovative products, such as EIZO’s 4K resolution FDH3601 monitor, GIGABYTE Thunderbolt motherboard users can enjoy next generation display options with their existing platform, without having to wait for future 4K resolution standards.” GIGABYTE Motherboard’s Dual Thunderbolt Ports As the first motherboards to be certified by Intel featuring dual Thunderbolt ports, GIGABYTE’s ‘TH’ models offer up to 10Gbps data transfer speeds from each port: this means you can transfer industry-leading HD graphics and data simultaneously! GIGABYTE Shatters AMD ‘Trinity’ APU Speed Record
GIGABYTE TECHNOLGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today announced the record highest clock speed 7.86GHz on AMD’s A10 5800K APU using the GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4 motherboard. Attending an AMD Extreme OC show on 20th Nov. in Taipei Taiwan, GIGABYTE’s overclocking team, The Killers (featuring HiCookie, S.Dougal and John Lam), took part in an overclocking demonstration achieving two new records on AMD’s new Vishera and Trinity platforms. The GIGABYTE F2A85X-UP4 motherboard was able to push the AMD 5800K to an incredible 7.86GHz, more than twice the 3.8GHz stock clock. Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4 Motherboard
AMD has just released their Trinity APU's. For those not familiar with an "APU", it is a processor that has an on-die graphics processing unit. AMD developed the world's first APU just over a year ago and they call it "Fusion" technology. AMD's first Fusion APU was codenamed Zecate and featured x86 technology with a dual core processor coupled with the first on die GPU. Zacate went over well in the budget notebook market with prices as low as $299. The kicker was above average graphics for a low priced lap-top. Next came Llano which shifted to a higher level. AMD used the same x86 four star cores but added an on-die 6550D graphics processing unit with even better graphics than its predecessor Zecate. Llano went over very well in the mainstream market and is a shining star for AMD.
Trinity takes Fusion to the next level and incorporates AMD's new processor technology called Piledriver. This is entirely different engineering from the previous x86 four star cores. AMD put 2 x86 cores onto one module and the entire architecture changes. Piledriver spawns from AMD's Bulldozer introduced about one year ago, but it uses an entirely new instruction set. In our A10-5800K review, we saw some dramatic improvements in processing power as well as better graphics with the built-in Radeon 7660D.
Gigabyte is all prepped and ready for these AMD changes and today we have their GA-F2A85X-UP4 ready to roll. The GA-F2A85X-UP4 introduces a new chipset from AMD called the A85 and it look...

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 Motherboard Halloween Review
Introduction Halloween is coming soon and the eerie light of the moon shines down upon the tech-world. The sounds of howling wolves fill the air. Children dance in the pumpkin patch, and everyone is anxious to go trick or treating. Even the computer enthusiasts are hoping for a special treat. What better treat could there be than a really special motherboard? That’s exactly what we have today. Halloween is bearing down on us, and we have a special treat review in store today. Gigabyte has released their newest motherboard named the GA-Z77X-UP7, and by the look of things, they have brought some real cool Halloween colors into the mix. Is this a coincidence? Probably. However, we certainly appreciate the synergy. Regardless of the season, this new look is great, and the features of the board are massive, so let’s see what it can do! IvyBridge is here for the interim. SandyBridge is being phased out and Haswell is due sometime next year. Those looking into new technology have a boatload of choices, and we have been seeing all motherboard manufacturers introduce some really “kick ass” product lately. Even though market conditions are still relatively slow, companies like Gigabyte have a full line of Z77 motherboards to choose from. So, which one will fit the bill for a top tier system? Perhaps Gigabyte will be able to take a nice chunk of the marketshare with products like this uniquely designed GA-Z77X-UP7. Enough with the hype. Let’s ...
