Gigabyte X399 Introduces Aorus Xtreme Motherboard

The Mother of All Boards I’m a huge fan of Gigabyte’s Aorus branding. The latest addition to their lineup is the X399 Aorus Xtreme motherboard. Since Threadripper Gen 2 is about to release, it makes sense that we’ll see some board refreshes. It looks like the Xtreme pulls out all the stops. The design continues what the X470 Gaming 7 introduced in fins on the heat sinks, RGB covers and addressable lighting. That said, there is a large gamut of solid performance features as well.



Gigabyte Launches Aorus B450 Motherboard

Less than Stellar Releases When AMD first announced the chipsets for Ryzen, the B350 should have caught most everyone’s eye. It would still handle the premium features of other boards with overclocking and connection options. However, less PCIe lanes meant that it would only have what the majority of builders needed. A buyer could save some money, but still have excellent performance. That said, B350 boards axed too many high end features to make them worth it in comparison to X370. The B450 chipset was looking to have similar problems with most manufacturers, but Aorus stood out from the crowd.



Gigabyte Designed Aorus Branded PSUs in House

P850W for mGPU Gigabyte is moving it’s Aorus branding to PSUs now. The P850W is being touted as a mGPU level unit that can handle 4k ready systems. If you’re running to 1070s or 1080s, or even a couple of RX 5xx series cards, then 850W is plenty. Two 1080 Tis would probably benefit from having a 1000W and when you start looking at two Vega GPUs, 1200W isn’t a bad idea. This makes the new units a solid release from Aorus, but we need something a little more interesting to get excited here.

This is my favorite looking design among X470 motherboards I've seen so far. Not only have I waited for Gigabyte to release a Gaming 7, but the Aorus features indicate some stellar performance. However, what's the deal with that 4.6 GHz Overclock tease? Could it be???

Gigabyte gave us our first taste of the AMD X470 chipset with their Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard. The features look great overall, but the choice of audio codec is still a mystery. Realtek is the standard choice, but Creative Sound Core 3D has audio card levels of quality.

GIGABYTE Introduces Z370 AORUS Motherboards

Aorus makes some of the greatest motherboards, at least in the appearance department. Gigabyte made a smart move when they switched their gaming boards to that brand and the latest Z370 Intel boards look fantastic. It seems like the boards will have some solid performance as well.



Gigabyte Kills it at Computex 2017

Gigabyte has done a great job with motherboard designs in recent years. The Aorus X299 Gaming 9 won the Best Choice Gold Award at Computex by setting several records, including overclocking ones. If performance isn't enough, the sheer beauty should make anyone say take my money!



Gigabyte BRIX Gaming VR Wins d&i Award Ahead of Computex

I know pre-built systems aren’t our thing usually, but I had to post this PR because Gigabyte has an impressive little device on their hands. Honestly, if I had the spare cash, this would be my LAN party machine for game days (that I hardly ever have anymore) or my editing station for travel. Shoot, it would even sub as a great paper-weight that does so much more than holding paper. GIGABYTE and Corsair Partner for RGB Fusion

Well, Gigabyte is the first, but are they really the “only?” Even if they are, I’m sure that will change shortly, but Aorus motherboards certainly deserve the honor of being the first to support Corsair’s RGB RAM modules. Ryzen AM4 Motherboards Resurface: Aorus, Titanium and Crosshair VI in the Mix

For anyone looking for mini-ITX love today, I’m sorry I don’t have that for you. For those wanting to see AMD have high-end ATX motherboards again, I’ve got ya’ covered. AMD had a “Meet The Experts” webinar recently which revealed more details on the new AM4 boards coming with Ryzen. It’s been so long since we’ve seen fully up-to-date boards for team Red that I had to show off some of the great additions coming from Gigabyte, MSI and Asus. Let’s start off with Gigabyte’s big showing since this board already looks very impressive. If you’ve followed Gigabyte recently, you know they started a new branding of high end motherboards by putting them under the Aorus badge. It looks like the board from the slide is named the AX370 Gaming 5, which is interesting because that leaves room for even beefier boards down the road. I also say interesting because the Gaming 5 looks very impressive in its own right. A quick count indicates a 10 phase VRM, support for the new RGB fusion feature and other Aorus features like Smart Fan. Having been on AM3+ since Vishera, you can imagine I’m quivering with excitement at how excellent this board is looking in comparison. MSI is bringing their big guns to the designing table by introducing AM4 to their Titanium series lineup. CES 2017: HyperX, Enermax/Lepa, Gigabyte

The Hardware Hound continues his coverage of CES 2017! We’re already to the point that it isn’t quite what day it is, but how much we could fit in one episode for a given episode, so sit back, enjoy the hardware news and keep checking back because more is still coming. This time we get to see some more RGB RAM kits from HyperX, some great cases and reservoirs from Enermax, plus some excellent motherboards from Gigabyte. Does anyone smell some Z270 and X370 chipsets?



October News Round Up: SWIFTECH Apogee XL2, GAMER STORM Genome II, GTX 1050 Ti and More!

Welcome back to our second roundup of hardware news that happened this month. The CPU and GPU side of things may have slowed down a tad, but there’s a lot that happened with cooling and cases. Let’s dive in and get excited about what’s coming down the road! CPUs Let’s start out with an update on Kaby Lake. Geekbench came out with some impressive results and the story made it look like INTEL has merely been holding back for a while. Recently however, an i5-7500K sample was benchmarked and only showed about a 10% improvement over Skylake. This is actually pretty disappointing, especially considering that the 4970K is still a top tier single thread performer. On the plus side, it looks like all 100 series motherboards will be able to support Kaby Lake with a BIOS update, but I doubt many will see the need to upgrade from Skylake in such a short time table. At the time being, ASUS is the only brand this is confirmed for, but that’s a good indication that other manufactures will follow suit.
