Mad Catz Expands Eclipse Line with the ‘Touchmouse'
written by Jake - January 8, 2010 18:45
Touchmouse delivers industry's first ‘gesture based’ Bluetooth® mouse and first mouse to be released under the eclipse brand. Mad Catz® Interactive, a leading worldwide third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, today announced the Eclipse touchmouse, the first in a new generation of notebook mice and the first mouse to be released under the company’s Eclipse brand label.

Featuring elegant and sophisticated ‘brushed-aluminum’ finish, the Eclipse touchmouse sports an advanced feature set and streamlined ergonomics. Designed for home, office or on the go, the touchmouse delivers both style and quality to discerning consumers everywhere.

Three button operation, 1600dpi laser technology and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity ensure that the Eclipse touchmouse can cope with a multitude of home and office tasks. The Eclipse touchmouse uses a single AA battery (included with package). The unique ‘touchscroll™’ module grants the consumer the ease of use associated with a traditional horizontally scrolling tilt wheel and combines it with the precision of a notebook track pad. The touchscroll module’s default mode offers four-way on-screen scrolling, activated by simply moving ones index finger.

The touchscroll module is located on the top of the Eclipse touchmouse. Working in conjunction with the Eclipse proprietary ‘quicktouch™’ technology, it provides the consumer with a host of instantly accessible commands which are accessed through a combination of mouse button and gestures. For example, the consumer is able to move back and forward through web pages or even open a web browser window simply by pressing and holding the touchscroll button and moving the mouse in one of four directions.

Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz commented, “The first backlit PC keyboard was introduced under the Eclipse brand and has been expanded into a successful range of premium PC keyboards. We’re excited to introduce the first mouse under the Eclipse brand, a product that builds on the brands heritage of innovative premium products for discerning consumers” Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz commented. “The expansion of the Eclipse brand also strengthens our foothold at the premium end of the PC input device category, a market that is significantly larger than our traditional gaming category.”

The Eclipse touchmouse is compatible with Windows™ 7, Vista™ and XP™ and is expected to ship across North America and key European territories later this year for the suggested retail price of $59.99/£54.99/EURO 59.99.
