written by Mergano - January 7, 2010 21:00

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today expanded its line of Satellite T100 Series ultra-thin laptops to include models equipped with processors from AMD, delivering enhanced multimedia processing power to the ultra-thin category.

Satellite T100 Series laptops are designed for those looking for a stylish ultra-thin form factor that delivers a balance of performance, features and affordability needed for everyday mobility. New configurations based on the AMD Neo platform deliver the versatility of dual-core processor performance, plus ATI Radeon graphics that enhance the laptop's multimedia prowess.

"The emergence of the low-cost ultra-thin category has quickly proven that consumers do not need to give up performance for mobility," said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "The Satellite T100 series provide the right blend of features with the right form factor to meet a broad set of computing needs."

At less than one-inch thin and weighing under four pounds, Satellite T100 Series laptops are topped with a stylish Fusion Finish and feature comfortable full-size keyboards and TouchPads with Multi-touch Control. Designed for mobility, the laptops include a Hard Drive Impact Sensor that helps guard data from the daily bumps of mobile life and a USB port with Sleep-and-Charge1 technology, which enables users to charge various consumer electronics, even when the laptop is turned off. A built-in Webcam with Face Recognition makes logging in hassle-free and live chat possible from anywhere, and a standard one-year limited international warranty makes traveling more worry-free. The Satellite T100 Series laptops also feature fast resume functionality so they are ready when needed - up and running in seconds.

Equipped with Windows 7 Home Premium, spacious hard drives up to 320GB, up to 4GB of memory and lots of expansion ports, including HDMI output, the laptops have the horsepower to handle everyday computing, Web and digital entertainment needs. Select models include built-in Wireless-N Wi-Fi6 technology and Bluetooth (on select models) provides users with the latest in connectivity technology to keep users productive, online and in touch.

The new Satellite T100 Series laptops with AMD processors will be available in two screen sizes and various color options. Designed to be stylish both inside and out, Toshiba's Fusion Finish design extends inside the laptop, around the keyboard, touch pad and the display. The Satellite T135D features a 13.3-inch diagonal LED backlit widescreen display and will be available in Nova Black, Red and White, while the Satellite T115D offers an 11.6-inch diagonal widescreen LED backlit display and will be available in Nova Black.

New Multimedia Software Built for Digital Entertainment
The new Satellite T100 Series laptops will come pre-installed with the recently announced Toshiba Media Controller 7 software, a new application that makes it easier to share content across a home network. The Toshiba Media Controller application enables users to effortlessly share files, photos and stream music and video across a wireless network between other Windows PCs and Windows 7-compatible devices, such as the Xbox 360 game console through a simple drag-and-drop interface.

The laptops will also include Toshiba's ReelTime and Bulletin Board apps, which give consumers an enhanced experience when accessing files, organizing daily activities, managing projects and more - right from their desktops.

EPEAT Gold-rated Eco-conscious Design
The Satellite T135D and Satellite T115D laptops are designed to be environmentally conscious with power-efficient, mercury-free LED backlit displays and meet the rigorous requirements of the EnergyStar 5.0 standard, and achieved industry-leading Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold status. They are also RoHS compatible, effectively reducing the environmental impact by restricting the use of lead, mercury, cadmium and certain other hazardous substances.
