TRENDnet Celebrates 1 Million Energy Star Certified Products Sold‏

TRENDnet today announces a sales milestone of one million products sold with Energy Star Certified power adapters.

Energy Star is a joint program by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy (DOE). Energy Star sets strict electrical consumption thresholds for a variety of products with the goal of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Products ranging from home appliances, office equipment, lighting, home electronics, and networking hardware can gain Energy Star certification.

TRENDnet launched its Energy Star program in late 2008 with the goal of reducing the carbon footprint of our product portfolio by sourcing high-efficiency Energy Star power adapters. The energy efficient adapters reduce energy consumption by an average of 30% as compared to non-certified adapters.

At the time of program launch, TRENDnet's product portfolio contained no Energy Star Certified products. Within one year, TRENDnet is proud to offer over 65 products with Energy Star Certified power adapters. Many of TRENDnet's popular wireless routers, access points, desktop switches, fiber networking solutions, print servers, and Internet security cameras now ship with high efficiency external power adapters.

"Users typically leave networking hardware products on constantly from the day of purchase," stated Zak Wood, Director of Global Marketing for TRENDnet. "The average TRENDnet Energy Star Certified product consumes only 5 Watts. Despite low power consumption, small cumulative energy savings quickly add up. TRENDnet estimates that the first million Energy Star Certified products sold have saved enough energy to power 835 homes in America."
