written by Jake - June 25, 2009 12:15
Microsoft announced pricing for the upcoming Windows 7 operating system, and judging by the numbers it seems they learned their Vista lesson. With the Windows 7 RTM (release to manufacturing) version of Microsoft's latest operating system not far off, the software giant has released the pricing scheme for the OS. Set for launch this October 22, there will be upgrade options as well as full standalone packages for consumers looking to make the move.

The official prices are listed below:

  • $119.99 for the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade ($199.99 for the full package)
  • $199.99 for the Windows 7 Professional upgrade ($299.99 for the full package)
  • $219.99 for the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade ($319.99 for the full package)

Microsoft has also announced a limited offer that will allow select customers to purchase upgrade versions of Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional for just $49.99 and $99.99 reach. However, this will be a pre-order program and will only be available through specific retail channels such as Best Buy and Amazon, or direct via the online Microsoft Store.

Customers in the US will be able to take advantage of the discount upgrade offer until July 11th. Consumers in the UK, France, and Germany will get the opportunity for these cheaper Windows 7 upgrades between July 15th and August 14th.
