Asus bust 3DMark Vantage record with Core i7?
written by Ciro - September 26, 2008 07:00
31,389 points...

Asus has posted a banner on its website claiming to have broken the 3DMark Vantage record. Although a P5Q Premium is pictured, X58 tech would have likely been used.

ASUS has namely posted a banner that speaks of the most extreme overclocking motherboards on the market and that it has achieved a new 3DMark Vantage world record. The result is presented as 31,389 points and can be compared to the current world record of 30,529 points.

Even if ASUS reveals nothing surrounding the record result but has actually posted a P5Q Premium in the animation we can guarantee you that this is not a result with any platform available today. First of all it's a bit too good for 3DMark Vantage with today's hardware, at the same time ASUS has shared nothing about the hardware, something it would if it could.

Don't read too much into this though, but those who were worried that Nehalem would just be a server and workstation CPU should feel a bit better after this. With less than two months to go before the launch of Core i7 it seems like the processor will be ready to set new benchmark records. We will keep you posted until then.
