Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has claimed that the PS3 is still in need of a "defying game". He notes that Wii Sports, as well as Fable II for the Xbox 360 are such games.
Discussing how other platforms are defined, Molyneux pointed to Wii Sports and Wii Fit have defined the Wii and even put forwards his own Fable II as a defining title for the Xbox 360.
"It is always one or two games which define a platform - it's the same for the Wii, and the PlayStation 2," Molyneux told GamesIndustry.biz.
"I think the PlayStation 3 is still waiting for that definition title that represents the platform - and I think that's what hardware manufacturers need to do, find that defining title.
"Nintendo did a brilliant job of doing that at launch with games like Wii Sports and Wii Play - maybe Fable 2 is a defining title. But you are talking to the proud father of this game, so you can't ask me to be tremendously objective," he said.
There could be hope on the horizon though, according to Molyneux, who reckons that LittleBigPlanet could be the defining game for the PlayStation 3. Maybe it's just a coincidence that LittleBigPlanet is made by a number of ex-Lionhead developers.
