Low-power Phenom X2 GE series spotted
written by Ciro - August 27, 2008 06:00

Our eagle-eyed friends over at The Tech Report have spotted signs of AMD's low-power dual-core Phenom lineup, namely the X2 GE-6600, GE-6500 and GE-6400.

There was a lot of talk about dual-core Phenoms before AMD introduced its new architecture last year, but the company has stuck to its older Athlon X2 line like glue since then. Rumor sites even suggested back in June that dual-core Phenoms would only arrive in 45nm form once AMD switches process technologies.

Imagine our surprise, then, too see that three 65nm Phenom X2 processors have popped up on an Austrian price search engine. Geizhals.at's CPU section includes listings for a 2.3GHz Phenom X2 GE-6600, a 2.1GHz Phenom X2 GE-6500, and a 1.9GHz Phenom X2 GE-6400. All three parts supposedly have 65nm cores, 1.6GHz HyperTransport links, 512KB of L2 cache per core, 2MB of L3 cache, and 45W thermal envelopes. No retailers have the chips in stock yet.
