HardOCP reviews Asus Maximus II Forumla
written by Ciro - July 25, 2008 10:30

If the upcoming Rampage Extreme doesn't fit the bill, then chances are that the Maximus II Forumla does. The board's full review can be read over at HardOCP.

ASUS has a winner on their hands with this board. The Maximus II Formula is more than worthy of the ROG logo, with stock performance easily matching that of the current DDR3 based Intel solutions. The board itself is a thing of pure beauty from a pure engineering perspective, with the heat pipe layout and overall size adding to the board’s allure. The board itself is feature packed, which really floors me given the overall uncluttered layout of the board. One of the other more impressive aspects of the board is the BIOS. The BIOS is packed to the gills with user configurable settings, to the point that it’s almost hard to figure out where to tweak first.

The overclocking performance was ok with the board, but not the best I’ve seen with either CPU. However, given the attention to detail ASUS paid in design and layout of the board and cooling solution, this is most likely a maturation related set-back, easily remedied as the product BIOS matures.
