AMD's 790 FX chipset hits 510Mhz FSB!
written by Ciro - October 27, 2007 23:29

With next month's launch brewing, AMD's Spider platform is slowly shaping up to be a winner - especially now that the 790 FX chipset has been proven a worthy competitor to Intel. An MSI rep has reportedly pushed an X2 6400+ based system with a 790 FX chipset to a 510MHz FSB. While this is more commonly achievable on a Core 2 setup, it's nothing short of outstanding for an AMD based system.

The processor in question was an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ with the multiplier had been lowered to x5 and the HTT divider to x1. The ATI/AMD engineers seem to have done a great job with this upcoming chipset and with the CrossFire X support it is really starting to look like a good platform. Now all we need is Phenom and Radeon HD 3870, which are both slated for arrival around mid and late November.
