GeForce 9800 GTX pictured, arriving March 25th?
written by Ciro - March 7, 2008 04:04

We've already seen one brief picture of Nvidia's 9800 GTX, though it left a lot to the imagination as it only showed the board's cooler. Expreview has now gathered another dozen shots, and they go beyond anything we've seen before of this board. The pictures confirm that the board does have two SLI connectors, meaning three-way SLI is on the cards. They also show the memory circling around the GPU like all G92 cards, and dual 6pin power connectors.

NVIDIA is set to announce three new GeForce 9800 cards on March 18. First of all we have the GeForce 9800GX2, which have been the main attraction in more than a few booths at CeBIT. Following the dual-PCB card, NVIDIA has the GeForce 9800GTX and the GeForce 9800GTS. All of these are based on the G92 core, which means 256-bit memory bus and GDDR3 memory. Pictures of a naked GeForce 9800GTX have surfaced and reveal the much smaller core, but also a reworked PWM, which looks like it could help when overclocking.

As NordicHardware confirm, our previous source was correct about the board's clocks - meaning the 9800 GTX remains an overclocked 8800 GTS 512MB with the addition of three-way SLI. They also note that the 9800 GTS will be clocked at 600MHz/900MHz, with 128 shaders.

Nordic add that the 9800 GTS and GTX will be simultaneously launched with the 9800 GX2 on March 18th. Though much newer sources believe that the 9800 GTX will arrive on the 25th.
