Pentium 4 at 8180MHz!

OC Team Italy has been at it again and managed to get a 65nm 'Cedar Mill' Pentium 4 631 to incredible clock speeds of 8180Mhz. Since the multiplier was locked, they had to squeeze 545MHz out of the FSB, resulting in a 173% overclock. The components used included an Asus Commando motherboard featuring Intel's P965 chipset. 2048MB of DDR2 memory was also present. It wasn't all that long ago when ThuG from Team Italy reported similar results of 8001MHz on a P5B-Deluxe - but it seems he wasn't satisfied and had to go one further. This certainly reveals some light at the end of the tunnel for Pentium 4 overclockers. |
