The exterior of the Grandia GD03 is mainly steel construction with the exception of the front bezel which is comprised of aluminum. The most significant thing about this chassis is that it is designed like an old-style desktop case which has a horizontal format rather than vertical orientation like most mid and full tower computer cases. This is done to resemble your stereo and other home electronics. The front of this chassis has a very rudimentary leitmotif to it at the outset but there is quite a compendium of things going on behind the scenes. There is only one visible DVD drive until you pull down the front two panels which reveal the more intricate details SilverStone has included in the GD03.

Underneath the first panel, just below the DVD drive, there is another 5.25” DVD drive bay and a 3.5” drive bay for a card reader. When you open the left side panel you will see two hot-swappable hard disk drive cages, a removable dust cover, hiding room for two optional 80mm intake fans and the I/O panel which contains a reset switch, 2xUSB, mic, headphone jacks and a 1394 firewire port.

On the left side of the chassis there is a small mesh cover to allow cool air in for the power supply, while the right side has another small mesh cover for an additional 80mm fan. At the rear of the chassis there are two 80mm exhaust fans and the I/O Panel for the motherboard, along with seven ventilated expansion slot covers, and finally the power supply bay.
