Summary
The Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B is a good looking cooler that showcases a rather aggressive aesthetic, even without an included fan. Since a fan isn't included here, you do have the choice of whatever suits your needs, from silent to high-output. This is both a pro and a con, as the inconvenience of having to order a separate fan is offset by the inherent flexibility offered here. While Prolimatech's decision is understandable, it is still somewhat disappointing nonetheless since you still need to purchase one, adding to the overall cost. Since the Rev.B is available at online retailers for $60 USD, it sits in the upper end of the air cooler market, and is a bit on the expensive side when you still have yet to purchase a fan for installation.

In terms of performance, however, we do think that performance is where it counts, and this Prolimatech cooler does a superb job. In our testing we noted that it's the most efficient LGA1156 cooler we've ever seen, allowing some extremely high overclocking and keeping a Core i7 monster in check.

The backplate installation method for the Megahalems Rev.B is a wise choice by Prolimatech, as it's likely preferred by most people over the antiquated push pin system, and the entire process is straightforward and quick. The only realy drawback here is the the fact there may be clearance issues posed by certain memory modules that have tall heatspreaders.

The Megahalems Rev.B is not subtle by any stretch of the imagination, but that's part of its appeal; it is big, heavy, and brash, and it will allow you to push your CPU farther then you probably thought possible on air cooling. If you are looking for top cooling performance, then the Megahalems Rev.B is one of the very best you'll find on the market.
