The NZXT Cryo S notebook cooler is a rather straightforward product, and while it may not be terribly complicated, it does get the job done reasonbly well.
The aesthetics here are quite sharp and the aluminum finish is very attractive. The Cryo S would look right at home attached to just about any notebook, and certainly in an office setting, and the construction of the cooler itself is excellent. The performance of the cooler was rather uninspiring for the CPU temperatures, but the hard drive results were far more encouraging. The fans were not loud at all, and overall the Cryo S ran very quiet.
There aren't many cons about this cooler, perhaps it's a bit too large for some users, especially those who travel with their laptops on a regular basis. But it is quiet and sturdy, and the freedom to power it from 120v electricity or USB is an added bonus. The stability grips work flawlessly, and ironically, during the testing, we had a minor earthquake, coming in at 4.4 (what are the chances of that?!) and the laptop did not shift. Needless to say, that's a pretty darn good test for stabiliy on the grips.
Retailing for about $50 USD, the NZXT Cryo S notebook cooler is a bit on the high side for what we'd prefer to see, but you do get a good all-around cooler in return, providing a nice blend of aesthetics and cooling performance.
