Nexus LAN Live- Dayton Ohio

Ohio gets put down so often I just stopped caring. Turn on a movie to see some smart mouth have something to say about Cleveland or jokes about Columbus being a cow town. Keep on making jokes buddy, Ohio has something most of the States don’t have and may never get the chance to. No it is not the many LAN events Ohio host every year, like Nexus and LANOC, we have something much bigger. Major League Gaming has purchased and setup an arena right here in Columbus Ohio. MLG.tv Columbus Arena is a 14,000 sq. ft venue!!! Does your state have that? Nope because as of right now it is the only MLG.TV facility in the US. One is NYC is coming soon. I sit here with some of the coolest nerds, geeks, techies or whatever name you wish to give them, knowing that we are on the forefront of being a major location for Esports worldwide. Nexus is filled with people that will travel an hour to Columbus for COD tourneys. Bring it on. Thanks Nexus for hosting PureOC. Check out some of these pics as things setup to play all night. If you are within a few hours of Dayton, you should try to make it next year. Or to LanOC. Both sell out quickly. http://www.nexuslan.org/ or http://lanoc.org/lan-parties   Here is the system I put together for Nexus LAN. Computer Ed from Sapphire and I both agreed to go with smaller systems…… My idea of small is kind of different… :} Will be getting some pics of Eds rig here shortly. He ran off somewhere. I crammed a Ek 45mmx360mm rad insid...

Thecus N2310 NAS Review

Introduction Most home based networks normally end up sharing files stored on computer systems, whether it’s a dedicated file storage system or a number of different systems sharing files. It takes a lot to maintain these systems, not to mention the power they use to just share movies, music, etc. While this may have been the most efficient way of consistently sharing files between each other in the past, Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices were extremely expensive when they first came out, and mainly advertised towards businesses for data storage. But what if you could have your own NAS device sharing all your memorable pictures, movies or even music? And, not only to your own local network but also accessible to authorized users across the globe? Introducing the Thecus N2310 NAS. Though not as powerful as the N2560 and N4560 released earlier this quarter, the N2310 still packs in a lot of the features of its pricier siblings. It’s also a more affordable way to utilize these features with safety in mind, knowing that your files will be safe and available where-ever you may be. Before we get started, let’s read more about Thecus. In today’s networked world, digital content is truly the most precious asset. At Thecus, we take pride in developing innovative storage solutions that keep data safe and secure. Founded in 2004, the Thecus team brings decades of R&D expertise, Thecus brand marketing channel development, and a strong customer fo...

Diamond Multimedia PlugnView Home Monitoring Security Camera kit

In this day and age security has become more of a need then a want because we are in an age where everything is being monitored. There are security cameras on streets, in stores, and just about every were you look. We give up some privacy, but in turn we get some piece of mind, knowing that if something should go wrong it will get captured on video. It’s also a hard fact that in most households both parents work out of necessity. Because of this, people are gone from their household for a minimum of eight to ten hours a day. Folks also have kids and pets at home, and in some cases care for the elderly. I know some who have very expensive security systems installed in their homes, and pay a monthly fee to security companies that monitor their dwelling while they are away. This, in turn, gives them some piece of mind. However many of us cannot afford that expense. How would you like to have a system in place that is inexpensive to purchase, and comes with no monthly fee? One that would allow you to look in on your children, see what Fido is up to, or just checkup on that grandparent or loved one who needs special care... Today we will be reviewing a plug and play surveillance system from Diamond Multimedia. The Diamond PlugnView is a remote home monitoring Internet night vision security camera kit. It is advertised as an inexpensive way to monitor and view things by camera, whether the inside or outside of your dwelling. It also does it wirelessly from devi...

BitFenix Recon Internet Connected Fan Controller

Cooling is an issue that will likely always be a concern, whether we run our computers at stock settings or overclocked it really makes no difference. There is always going to be heat generated from every electrical component in your system. There are many ways to accomplish this, from faster or bigger fans, to exotic water cooling. Both have their pros and cons, but sometimes the easiest, most reliable and most cost effective way to accomplish something comes from getting back to basics. Fans in most cases fit this bill and offer a cost effective solution to improve or adjust cooling throughout your system. But, running fans at full speed all the time can leave us with noise problems and in most cases, cool and quiet cannot coexist together. Or can they? Is it possible to breathe new life into that old computer or custom build with your current fans? What if you could control the speed, airflow, and temperature strategically to different parts of your case? Imagine being able to do this both quickly and effortlessly, and wirelessly as well. Today I have the pleasure of bringing you what may be the world’s first internet connected fan controller, The Bitfenix Recon. It's designed for a new age of mobile devices and built on a platform with software that’s Browser based, meaning it is compatible with virtually any mobile operating system, including iOS, Android, or Windows. The Bitfenix Recon sports a cool looking illuminated easy on the eyes touchscree...

Archgon MH-3507HUB Fusion II Docking System

I don’t know about you but I personally have several small and large capacity 2.5" and 3.5" external hard drives that I use for storage only. I store movies, music, pictures, and important data on several separate HDDs. This makes it easier for me to label each drive to keep track of what I have on them and also enables me to designate the right size HDD for my storage needs. I despise having to dismantle and remove the hard drive from my vertical enclosure on my desk whenever I want to swap them out. The amount of time it takes to open the enclosure, remove and swap out the drive is sometimes so frustrating because it frequently takes me longer than the actually transfer of the data itself. Today I have the pleasure of reviewing an enclosure that I believe may relieve these frustrations. The Archgon Fusion II Docking System comes with on board USB 3.0 support, USB 3.0 Hub and will support hard drives up to 3TB in size. The Archgon Fusion II also features a patented drive ejection system, making removal of your HDD or SSD quick, safe, and easy. The Archgon MH-3507HUB Fusion II has a horizontal open architecture design that helps reduce heat and alleviates vibration during drive spin up, protecting your drive from damage while the drive is working. The Archgon MH-3507HUB Fusion II features an external three port USB 3.0 hub allowing the user to plug other USB devices into the hub and still take full advantage of the USB 3.0 speed. Let’s read on to see what else ...
