Inside the ECS Press Event

LIVE & LIVA ECS (EliteGroup Computer Systems) recently held what they titled the “LIVE, LIVA, LEAD, L337″ press event in San Jose to unveil some new products and to discuss the future of ECS. PureOverclock was one of the lucky few to be invited to attend this event. One of the main products ECS seemed to be most proud of and focused a large amount of their attention to was the LIVA mini PC Kit. LIVA is one of the smallest fully functional PCs capable of running Windows 8.1 I have seen. There are a few models available based on color (Black or White) and Drive space size(32GB or 64GB). The plan is to install the OS and a few other apps on the internal non upgradeable drive and use an external drive for storage, either a USB flash drive or an external Hard drive. I/O options starting from the left are a micro USB for power, Realtek RTL8111G 10/100/1000LAN, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI and VGA. The tiny passively cooled pc is powered by the 64bit Intel Bay Trail-M N2807 1.58GHz Celeron processor with 2GB DDR3L memory. LIVA is fully capable of pushing dual displays as well. Within the kit is a M.2 WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n + Bluetooth 4.0 card that needs to be installed during assembly. Hey look it is everyone’s favorite song! Let’s sing along! Just kidding please don’t! ECS setup the LIVA to support Karaoke with dual microphones and HD video playback. I will be experimenting with my own LIVA over the coming days to see what I can really do with it. Window...

By leveraging the latest processor technology from Intel and NVIDIA, the Raven X6 sips very little power from the socket until you need it. That’s when NVIDIA Optimus Technology, and Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology kick in to send your computer into overdrive to power through games and applications that require more performance. Raven X6’s gaming merit is shown on the brilliant 15.6” Full HD (1080p) IPS panel display, featuring accurate color reproduction and crisp image quality. Incredibly detailed, high-resolution frames are pushed to the display by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics card with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. The GTX 860M uses all of the great NVIDIA technologies, like TFXAA, Adaptive VSync, and PhysX to tear through the latest demanding games. Even on the road, NVIDIA Battery Boost technology will kick your GTX 860M into a reduced power mode, so you can still get your game on without instantly draining your battery. The Raven X6 is sleek and mean, but excels at other tasks to become your all-purpose notebook. A H...

CYBERPOWERPC Configurator Lets You Build a Dream Custom SFF Mini-ITX PC Machine

CYBERPOWERPC Configurator Lets You Build a Dream Custom SFF Mini-ITX PC Machine   CITY of INDUSTRY, CA (July 2, 2014) – CyberPower Inc. www.cyberpowerpc.com, a global manufacturer of custom gaming PCs, today unveiled its custom small form factor (SFF) configurator, which allows customers to choose from a carefully selected menu of high-end components to build the custom SFF Mini-ITX gaming rig of their dreams. As far as performance goes, the sky is the limit. The CYBERPOWERPC design and engineering teams worked hard to stuff enough processing, graphics and cooling power into these pint-sized machines to rival any full-size desktop PC. According to CyberPower Inc., small form factor gaming systems have traditionally been limited from the start because of their inability to support many advanced options. For example, most designs were limited to 1U, 2U server or SFX power supplies, which are more difficult to upgrade and are often not powerful enough for high-end graphics cards. Customers start first with a wide selection of SFF gaming chassis that have the headroom to support full size graphics, liquid cooling and other advanced components. Selections include the Corsair Obsidian 250D, BitFenix Prodigy SFF, Fractal Design Node 304 and more. The SFF Configurator will offer the latest 4th Generation Intel Core processors including the screaming fast, unlocked Intel Core i7-4790K “Devil’s Canyon” chip that starts at 4.0GHz. All processors will be mounted to a Mini-ITX...

MSI Unleashes Domination with the Help of NVIDIA

Geronimo was one of fiercest Native American Warriors known today. He led numerous successful raids, eluded capture many times, and became one of the greatest pillars in trying to preserve the Native American way of life. It seems fitting then that MSI has named one of it’s newest gaming notebooks after the tribe Geronimo came from. These deadly new instruments are powerful, while remaining super efficient, and much like the Warrior in battle, these devices plan on taking no prisoners. Please welcome the MSI GT Dominator and the GE Apache Gaming Notebooks! The phrase “Gaming laptops” almost seems like an oxymoron. Gaming brings in the sense of power draining, but laptops need battery efficiency. This leaves a delicate balance for a manufacturer to straddle because if the device is powerful, it has to stay plugged in lest it die in an hour. On the other hand, if there isn’t any useful hardware, the gaming experience suffers. This is where the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 800M series GPUs come in. If you haven’t already guessed, this is Maxwell architecture. The GTX 750 Ti already showed some impressive performance for remarkable power consumption. These mobile GPUs are primed to follow that lead so that, combined with Intel Haswell technology, a gaming experience can still have a decent battery life. If that was the only exciting thing about these laptops though, it would only be a matter of time before that became the mainstay of every gaming noteboo...
