Introduction
Late last year, ATI released the Radeon HD5800 series video card; these high-end cards are tremendously fast.  Generally speaking, the faster a graphics card, the hotter it runs.  And to get the full potential performance out of a HD5870 we need to overclock it, which usually requires more voltage, resulting in even more heat output.  As you can see, speed ultimately equals heat, and in order to prevent our precious hardware from overheating and becoming damaged, we must cool it.  And one of the best ways to do this with a graphics card is to water cool it.

Swiftech is a very well known water cooling company that understands the demands and the needs from the water cooling enthusiast.  They’ve launched the Komodo HD5800 full cover water block series; it’s a cooling solution for high-end graphics cards, and is designed to have superior thermal performance for the top dog Radeons HD5870 and HD5850.

Today we will focus on the cooling solution for the HD5870 card.  Let’s fire up the beast and see how this GPU water block performs.

Thanks to Swiftech for supplying the review sample.
