Introduction
Input devices are a very important part of any computer. Take, for instance, the keyboard and mouse. Without these devices we would not be able to use our machines like we do everyday, and until a technology is created that can be used reliably to replace them, they are here to stay. And for the touch screen disciples in the crowd, we agree it’s cool and has a purpose, but it simply cannot compete with a mouse and keyboard in terms of absolute efficiency; there’s very good reason the keyboard and mouse are ubiquitious.

Keyboards come in many flavours, from the plain Jane old-school PS/2 clackety-clack models, right up the ludicrously insane OLEDs, where you can program every key with its own picture and many different macros.  Cost then factors into the equation, as different keyboards with various price tags, some that are as ridiculous as the keyboard itself.

Of course there is the question of build quality; surely a $10 keyboard won’t be as solid as one that costs $100.  At least, that’s the logical assumption. Longevity and how long it will actually last? And what about wired versus wireless?  Backlit keys?  Add-on pads and peripherals?  As you can see, the notion of a simple keyboard might not be so simple when you start to peel back the layers and delve a bit deeper into what is needed and what is being offered in the marketplace.

So, can we have a keyboard that looks great, has a solid build quality, some decent features, is wireless, and won’t break the bank in terms of price?  Quite possibly, yes.  Which brings me to what we will be looking at today, the Enermax Acrylux wireless 2.4 GHz keyboard. It wasn't too long ago that we looked at another keyboard from Enermax aimed at HTPC users and we were very pleased with it. Today the unit we are looking at is a full-sized version aimed at a larger audience, retaining the wireless functionality and coming in a very sleek design.
