Introduction
Widescreen monitors are finally becoming mainstream as software support has matured, consumers have realized the addtional viewspace is extremely beneficial, and prices have become very enticing to anyone considering purchasing a new LCD monitor.  Specifically, 24-inch LCD displays are becoming a new norm, increasingly occupying a great place in the market that offers large size for a good price for the most part.  Gamers are seeing the benefits of 24-inch displays, and office/graphics users find the extra screen space valuable for spreadsheets, word processing, and image processing alike.

However, we've seen an increase in larger screens that come at 16:9 aspect ratio to suit true widescreen format, but these only offer 1920 x 1050 resolution rather than the larger 1900 x 1200 that we normally see. While this may be good for HD movies, it's not quite as good for everyday use or gaming since that extra visual real estate is lost.

Regardless, a quality LCD monitor is a critical investment for users, and today we look at the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370, a monitor that comes with a respected Samsung pedigree, offering gorgeous aesthetics and sleek functionality. But what about visual quality and performance? Let's find out.
