Introduction
The release of Intel's LGA1156 Core i5/i7 platform has created a ripple effect of new product launches, primarily in motherboards, memory, and CPU cooling. Today we're interested in the latter. Enthusiast-class CPU coolers are currently few and far in between for LGA1156, with a limited selection available in comparison to its big brother LGA1366. This doesn't bode well for users who wish to push their system by overclocking on air, as we know the stock Intel cooler is woefully inadequate.

Cooler Master is one company at the forefront of the LGA1156 cooler market, hitting the ground running and currently offering at least two products for improved performance of your new CPU. The first is the Hyper 212 Plus, a direct-touch heatpipe design with a 120mm fan. The second is the Hyper TX3, also a direct-touch design, but sporting a slightly smaller 92mm fan in a more compact setup for those with a smaller mid-tower or smallform LANbox cases.

Both coolers look pretty good, and the prices are attractive as well, so that's a great start. But what about the primary criterion for CPU cooling: Performance? Ah, that's where coolers earn their keep or get tossed aside as third-rate peasants in the quest to be the king of cooling.

Want to overclock your new chip and brag to your friends? Alright then, let's jump in and take a look at Cooler Master's new LGA1156 CPU coolers and find out if they can handle the new Intel Lynnfield monsters.

Thanks go to our friends at Cooler Master for supplying the review samples.
