Introduction
We've seen a recent rise in popularity of dual GPUs, Quad CPUs, and more power hungry system components. While manufacturers are working on power efficiency for their products, the general trend has been higher energy consumption. Systems now feature more graphics cards, possibly due to their excellent output for Folding at Home, and we also see Quad Crossfire and Quad SLI setups. The need to power these systems in a stable environment is greater than ever, and the power supplies required to feed these setups are a select group of products.

But in today's economy many people need to be frugal, which is often very difficult when shopping for a kilowatt power supply. But today we're looking at the HEC Raptor 1100CM power supply, a kilowatt modular unit that promises power for those on a tighter budget.

Let's take a look at the Raptor 1100CM and see if it's boom or bust.
