Test Results: Write Performance

Write performance is probably more important then read in most peoples cases, though a good drive will handle both well. With the 512B test we see the DataTraveler Elite demolish the competition here 6 times over. It’s worth noting that the fastest drive for almost all read tests, the Geil David is now the lowest performer in this first write test. The rest of the pack all sit in the middle ground.

Again, the DataTraveler Elite is significantly ahead of the competition in this test with a whopping 4.7MB/s. The Geil David disappoints again with the lower read write speed of all the drives. The Corsair Voyager has a good showing here with 2.6MB/s. Surprisingly the Gizmo drive is pulling back some points on these write tests with very respectable scores.

It’s now becoming clear who rules with write speeds. The DataTraveler Elite is once again the leader of the pack with 11.98MB/s, and the Corsair Flash Voyager sits just behind with 10.41MB/s. The Geil David is again the slowest drive, and both the OCZ Rally, Migo and Gizmo all border in the middle of the pack.

Here we see the Corsair Flash Voyager pull ahead of the DataTraveler Elite with 13.52MB/s. The Migo drive is not far behind these two either. Again the Geil David drive is the slowest which is a great shame as it was so fast in the read tests. The OCZ Rally drive also offers respectable performance here, too.

Finally, we see a big huddle around 14.2MB/s with one of these drives being the Geil David – Too little, too late if you ask me. Corsair’s Flash Voyager is on top here again and has shown consistent performance in all the tests here. The Gizmo fall to the back of the pile once again.
