We've looked at many graphics cards in the premium enthusiast segment, including several models in AMD's Radeon 6900 lineup. While the 7000 series cards are starting to launch, the 6000 cards have proven to be quite impressive for the most part, offering some substantial gaming power at reasonable prices. However, what one considers reasonable might be extravagant and expensive to another. Not everyone is a hardcore gamer and enthusiast, and there is a considerable number of consumers out there that need something far more affordable that can still satisfy a gaming fix. While flagship cards may command much of the hype, it's the budget cards that quietly bring in the profits.
The Sapphire Radeon 6450 FleX is one such modest card: low-power, passively cooled, and marketed to consumers who may be interested in something for their HTPC or the occasional foray into some light gaming. It packs a bit of horsepower, but runs quiet and power frugal. But perhaps the most interesting feature is its ability to run Eyefinity without the need for a DisplayPort monitor or active adapter; the technology is directly on the card itself. That's quite an added bonus for a card that's only $60 to begin with.
Let’s take a closer look at the Sapphire Radeon 6450 FleX and see how it fares.
