While we are gluttons for speed, we know that top performance generally comes with a stiff price tag as well. You pay for the power, plain and simple. On the flipside of that, does budget mean slow and garbage? Sometimes, but not necessarily. It may be somewhat rare to find fast computer components at a good price, but they do exist.
Today we're looking at just such a product, the Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB DDR3-1600 memory modules. Notice the "blu" in the name; these modules are indeed the famed HyperX sticks, but more specifically they are Kingston's new budget offering. We've seen some amazing results form HyperX modules in the past, but they typically command top dollar as well. The Blu modules look to change that, however, bringing the respected HyperX name in an affordable package to the masses.
The price is certainly very good at about $105 USD, one of the least expensive kits at this speed and latency on the market. But what about performance? Does budget mean cheap or slow with these modules? Well, that is exactly what we're about to find out. The budget sticks have a couple surprises in store, not the least of which is overclocking headroom. How high can they go? Read on to find out.
