Some people overclock because they want to squeeze extra points out of their parts for benchmarks, others overclock for better day to day performance, and others overclock just because they can. Overclocking is cool. What isn’t cool, though, is your processor while you overclock. As the clock speed increases, the transistors in your parts switch faster and faster, and as voltage increases, heat increases exponentially.

Because of this, better cooling than the stock heatsink is often required to achieve any meaningful overclock. Thankfully, as the heat generation of processors is increasing, so is heatsink technology, with manufacturers innovating to stay ahead of the curve. Manufacturers compete constantly to improve their products to get an edge over eachother. The best part is that, we, as consumers, benefit the most from this.

Zaward might not be a household name, but you may have seen their golfball-design fans at some point. More interestingly, Zaward has used that very innovative approach to their latest flagship CPU cooler, the Vapor 120. It looks rather unassuming, save for the fan, and the price seems pretty good at about $50. But what’s really interesting is the performance numbers this cooler managed to put up. To put it mildly, we were shocked. Read on to find out why.

Thanks go to Zaward for supplying the review sample.
