Introduction

Graphics cards are getting more powerful than ever, and since the release of the Radeon HD5870 card awhile back, it has been a very popular and impressive card in terms of performance. You know this if you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on one.  And like clockwork, every time a new flagship graphics card is released, we see new full coverage water blocks following suit not long afterward.

Some of us are overclocking junkies, we’re hungry for speed and it doesn’t matter whether it is a CPU, RAM or GPU, we will squeeze every last drop of the megahertz out of them until they beg for mercy.  Obviously, when you overclock these components they produce more heat, and in order maximize performance we also need better cooling.  Air cooling won’t cut it.  This is when water cooling comes into play, and the one we are looking at today is the XSPC Razor 5870 full cover GPU water block.

XSPC designed the Razor 5870 so you can keep your lighting fast Radon HD5870 graphics card cool as a cucumber.  When the graphics card is water cooled, not only does it provide improved overclocking ability but also helps keep the rest of your case internals cooler as well since less heat is produced inside your case to begin with.

XSPC is no stranger to us, and we have high expectations of the Razor 5870 full cover GPU water block, so let’s take a closer look and get it installed and onto our loop.

Thanks to XSPC for supplying the review sample.

"We released our first product the R120 radiator in 2004, the following year we released our X2O CPU Water block, Pump and Watercooling kit.  Since then we have released many award winning products covering all components of watercooling systems, most recently our Razor full cover GPU waterblocks. All our products are designed for the PC enthusiast market where they are used by gamers and PC modders.  Over the past year our products have been proved very popular with boutique PC manufactures and in specialist areas like recording studio PC’s. We are constantly revising our products to improve performance."
