Allow me to quickly paint a picture for you.  Pull out your computer tower from under the desk, unscrew the sides, install a new hard drive, route the  wires through the case, plug it in, archive your data, and then remove the drive and cables, reinstall the side panel, and set your tower back under the desk and plug it in.  Sounds pretty involved, no? Can’t data backup be easier? Shouldn’t it be easier?

Yes, it can be, and yes, it should.

Backing up your data should be one of the most necessary things to do, as losing important data, or even just your music library, is a very easy way to utterly ruin your day. Backing up data should rank right next to ‘updating virus scanner’ on the things to do for your system.

VIZO has produced two products to make the otherwise tedious but wholly necessary process of backing up your data much easier. For review, we’ve got the Luxon Advanced ED, and the Arius EX, the former being an external drive enclosure, and the latter, a locking, internal HDD rack that fits right into a 5.25? drive bay. Both are designed to support 3.5? drives and a SATA II interface, with the Luxon supporting eSATA as well. Let’s take a look and see how each fares.

Thanks go to our friends at VIZO for the review samples.
