Introduction

When selecting hardware for a system, memory usually is not the main focus. Today’s numerous platforms from four to eight core processors remains the main dilemma; then we move to graphics and down the totem pole to cooling and lastly memory. A multitude of choices to be made for sure in each area. Many do not realize, top shelf memory can yield many benefits but there is a price to performance factor in the final selection.

Intel’s X79 platform has gained some traction as of late but their newest platform named the Z77 is on the horizon to bust loose for both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors. Today, we have VisionTek’s latest memory modules unpackaged and ready to roll named the Red Label Ultimate Performance PC-1700 CL11 2133MHz EX in 2 x 4G (8G). We will look at the performance of these sleek looking modules in both the X79 and Z77 platform so sit back, grab a beverage and join us for a good look.
