Some may think the long-lived Intel X58 platform is dead due to the popularity of Sandy Bridge. This is isn’t entirely true (at least shorter term) as we forget Intel’s top dog processor remains the Core i7 990X. Along with the 990X we see the 950/960/970 models still appearing in retail channels, and they’ve proven to be cost effective powerhouse chips overall. VisionTek is a company probably known by most for producing graphic cards but unknown by some; they have been a jack of many trades for some time. They produce graphic cards, network cards, TV tuners, power supplies, and recently, memory. Can their product compete in the PC marketplace with enthusiasts like us? Let’s find out.
