Conclusion

If I could judge the XG2701 in a bubble, it would be easy to give ViewSonic a major award here. In fact, the only thing the monitor does that I think can be improved within the realm of the actual hardware is the location of the headset hanger. It’s in an awkward place, but I doubt that’s the feature that gamers are hinging their decision on. When it comes to TN panels, the XG2701 is about as good as it gets for games.

Unfortunately, we don’t live in a bubble though. This monitor pretty consistently stays in the $300-$350 range on Newegg and Amazon. That price is just a tad high, not even to the fault of the display. Newer technology has made VA panels much more affordable, as well as giving them incredible response times. In fact, the VX2758-C-MH is one such display from ViewSonic that stays around $260, and has great reviews. Ultimately, even if price is holding it back, the ViewSonic XG2701 Gaming Monitor deserves a Great Hardware Award from Pure Overclock!
