Introduction

I used to live in an area known as Little Italy. The restaurants and night clubs were amazing, but they were eclipsed by the cars often seen driving slowly around the lively streets. Of course, being Little Italy, Ferraris were not uncommon. It was a regular occurance to see a 355 or a 360 Spyder pass by, and only once in my life have I ever seen an Enzo in person as it stopped beside me at the curb. It was a sight to behold.

Ferrari is a name synonymous with legend and history, culture and bliss. I’ve never had the pleasure of driving a Ferrari; other than seeing the Enzo the only other exotic I’ve actually ever driven was a Dodge Viper. And no offense to the American muscle car afficionadoes, but a Viper is no Ferrari.

Indeed, perhaps the closest any of us many come to driving a Ferrari is a virtual one, in a video game, or using a branded wheel on our desk. And that is exactly what we’re discussing here today: Thrustmaster’s Ferrari F430 Force Feedback driving wheel. It brings some of the Ferrari mystique to market, certainly at an infinitely more affordable price tag, but can it bring some of that driving magic to users when running the back stretch of Nurburgring on Race Driver: GRID? Maybe. Let’s take a closer look at the Thrustmaster F430 and see how it fares.

Thanks to our friends at Thrustmaster for the review sample.
