Introduction

Today we’re looking at the Thermaltake Challenger Illuminated gaming keyboard, a fully backlit board that sports bold styling and a couple unique features, in looking to cater to discerning consumers who want something more affordable than an expensive mechanical board.

The Thermaltake Challenger Illuminated is a new variant of the original Challenger; this new model has an tweaked layout, more compact design, and a fresh look, while still retaining some of the features that make it unlike any other board out there.

Retailing for $60, the Thermaltake Challenger Illuminated is a very well-priced membrane keyboard, far more affordable than the audacious $100 designs we see from some niche companies. These aren’t expensive mechanical boards like Thermaltake’s Meka G1 we recently reviewed (which was impressive, by the way).

Looks like Thermaltake is looking to target gamers on a budget who still want a feature-packed keyboard. Hey, works for us if the consumer saves money in the end. Let’s get to it and take a closer look at the Challenger Illuminated.
