Summary

Thermaltake has done a fine job with the ToughpowerXT 750W, improving on its predecessor and offering consumers a very complete package here. The features on the XT are excellent, and the S.P.T lighting indicators are innovative and will be very helpful, particularly for end users that may not be very knowledgable about computer systems and want to monitor their rig. Further, the FanDelayCool offers the ability to choose the degree to which you want your fan to continue working, cooling the unit down after shutoff. This again is an innovative approach, and offering options and control to consumers is always a good thing in our opinion.

From a feature standpoint, the accessories included in this package are excellent, and there is a great assortment of sleeved modular cables that support SLI/CrossFire setups. Having four 6+2-pin cables available on a 750w power supply is rare, and Thermaltake has made a smart decision here to include them, given the demand for dual-card graphics setups these days. The modular cable connector setup employs an easy-to-use and colour-coded connection design, and the entire package is housed in a scratch-resistant finish with a very uniquely coloured aesthetic.  From a functional standpoint, the Toughpower XT series boasts excellent voltage regulation, very good efficiency, and a quiet operation until it’s heavily loaded and then the fan ramps up and the noise is certainly audible.

Currently coming in around $195 USD, the Toughpower XT 750W is not the most expensive unit in this market segment, but if you compare it to other quality brand names then it does sits near the top range in terms of price. Given the features and the single, large 12V rail design, these things do come at a premium.

The Thermaltake Toughpower XT 750W offers a great combination of features, aesthetics, quality, versatility, and performance. If you’re a person that appreciates quality design and construction, then the Toughpower XT will not disappoint.
