Introduction

We all know that graphics get most of the attention where gaming is concerned. New game engines and better graphics may make headlines, but have you ever stopped for a minute and turned off the sound in one of those fancy games? Think about it for a second, when was the last time (if ever) that you simply unplugged your headset or turned off your speakers when gaming? I’m willing to wager you haven’t done it. And if you have, then it didn’t last long. Why not? I’m also willing to wager that it was because the game wasn’t as fun anymore, you couldn’t follow the storyline, or more than likely you just got your ass kicked by some noob because you couldn’t hear him coming before you were knifed.

Yes, much as graphics may get most of the attention, it is arguably the sound that makes a game immersive or memorable in many ways. It is that special audio connection that sets the atmosphere. It is also that audio that can mean the difference between life or death in an online multiplayer gaming environment.

Thermaltake has made quite a splash into other areas of PC component products, including power supplies, cases, and cooling. Thermaltake is continuing their foray into the gaming component market by means of their eSPORTS lineup, and this time it’s the audio arena with a new gaming headset, theThermaltake Shock.

The Shock looks pretty unique with its angular lines and portability, and comes very reasonably priced at about $60. But what about performance? Indeed, this is where headsets make their reputations, so let’s take a closer look and see just how well the Thermaltake eSports Shock gaming headset performs.

Since the beginning of Thermaltake in 1999, it has been at the forefront of creating new and exciting products at a time where most computer users were provided little to no choices for components that may seem irrelevant, but are in reality crucial to the performance of a PC. Thermaltake Server Series solutions, with years of thermal experience and industry leadership, sets its goal on reforming total thermal management in the server segment by formulating the perfect mixture of versatility, efficiency and thermal management with each respective server product category: Rackmount Chassis, Server Fixed & Redundant Power Supply and Server CPU Cooling Management Solutions.
