Packaging and Accessories

Rival 700

Packaging is a formality that can almost be skipped, but it’s still nice to see how a product is being taken care of. However, STEELSERIES brings the Rival 700 packaging to a whole new level. To start off with, it’s abnormal to see a mouse in a full cardboard box, rather than the plastic see-through shells I’m used to seeing.

Once you open the inside package up, you see the mouse sitting in it’s own little customized throne. This is some of the nicest packaging I’ve seen to date.

The Smaller box holds all of the cables, as well as the user guide. Once again, this is quality packaging for what I expect to be a quality product. STEELSERIES also gets a major bonus for including a standard AND braided cable to choose from. I love braided cables, but I could easily see how others would prefer the normal rubber finish.

The keyboard packaging is quite good as well, but this is something more typically seen from other vendors. Sometimes the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” works the way it’s supposed to.

Inside we see that there’s some good protective space on the edges for the actual product. These are things we like to see when it comes to opening up the box.

Finally, the keyboard doesn’t have much along the lines of accessories, but it does have a manual. I will say that I was surprised the keyboard didn’t come with a wrist rest.
