SPARKLE GeForce GTX 460 768MB
After the launch of the GF100 that’s found on the GeForce GTX 480, 470, and 465 cards, it became apparent that some changes were necessary in order to not only streamline the architecture but also improve upon some of the issues; namely, power consumption and heat output. The market segment that would buy a flagship card might be willing to accept the downsides in order to achieve better performance, but as we move down the price ladder, those issues simply aren’t acceptable. And with the ATI Radeon 5000 series cards offering great performance without the heat issues, Nvidia had to rebound in a big way in the critical mainstream market segment.
In order to be competitive in this lucrative market, Nvidia had to look at changes in the architecture. The result? The GF104, and specifically the GeForce GTX 460. It’s shaping up to be a very compelling card, bringing Nvidia back into the mix in a strong way.
Today we’re looking at once such model, the SPARKLE GTX 460 768MB, which is based on the reference Nvidia design. While we don’t want to tip our hand just yet, let’s say that it brings some extremely attractive features to the table. Nvidia looks to be on the rebound with the GTX 460 and SPARKLE looks ready to ride the wave here on that rejuvenation.
Let’s have a closer look at the SPARKLE GTX 460 768MB and see how it fares.
