WHAT WE LIKED:

Great stock clock performance, small size, easy & unique fan mounting mechanism, super quiet operation, crazy affordable.

WHAT WE DISLIKED:

Can't handle the heat with the clocks turned up, Still takes up the first Ram slot despite its small size. Only available in blue.

BOTTOM LINE:
If you're in need of a compact, quiet cooler for your HTPC or media center, the AR02 will fit your needs perfectly.

Introduction

A few weeks ago we took a look at SilverStone’s AR01 CPU cooler from their new Argon series of coolers. We were thoroughly impressed with its price, sound levels and overall performance. The Argon series is comprised of three coolers – the AR01, AR02 and the AR03. Each looks similar at first glance but is geared towards a different end user. The AR02 is the low man on the totem pole in the lineup (as far as size is concerned) but don’t think that makes him not worthwhile. SilverStone kindly sent us the AR02 to check out, so let’s get to it!

About the AR02:

“The Argon series coolers are designed to provide the best cooling solution for your CPU. The Argon AR02 features three 6mm thick copper heat pipes connect to the base using heat-pipe direct export technology(HDC). A new, compact 92mm PWM fan with excellent balance of airflow and noise is included to provide forced-air heat dissipation with the ability to cool components around the CPU area. For users requiring higher performance cooling, AR02 is the best choice.” – SilverStone

Let’s take a look at the details of the AR02 now.
