We typically see strong power supplies from Seasonic, both in terms of power but also quality. We continue to be impressed by their offerings, and it’s no wonder they’re highly regarded by enthusiasts. However, not everyone needs a heavy hitter of a unit that can power a monster gaming rig, for example. In fact, many people need something far more modest. Further still, with the rise in popularity of HTPC systems, finding an efficient power supply that’s utterly silent is a bit of a challenge in today’s market.

However, we’ve got our hands on one of Seasonic’s newest models, an X Series 460W fanless power supply, which comes 80PLUS Gold Certified,  so not only should it be completely silent, but it also be very efficient as well.  This new power supply comes from the X Series lineup, currently available in 650W and 750W power ranges, and is geared to the discerning consumer that wants excellent efficiency, features, and quality in a silent setup.

So let’s jump in to this review and see if this little PSU has what it takes to power a hungry system.
