When Intel’s Socket 1155 platform launched, the H67 chipset motherboards offered onboard graphics capabilities and were geared to the budget-oriented consumers. Conversely, the P67 motherboards catered to the enthusiast, requiring discrete graphics, and providing high performance overclocking abilities that were lacking in the H67 counterparts. But the Z68 chipset is changing that, bringing the best of both worlds to the mix. With onboard graphics but promising high performance, the new chipset is feature-rich and looks like a hybrid of sorts.

The premium motherboard market is dominated by a handful of established companies, and Sapphire isn’t one that really comes to mind when discussing new products. However, Sapphire has produced AMD motherboards, and is coming along on the Intel side, as the Platinum Z68 is their latest foray into the market. Sporting sleek styling and good features, this motherboard certainly looks the part. But it’s in for a very tough fight against some established companies. Can the Pure Platinum Z68 measure up? Let’s find out.

Pioneers in a new era of how data is displayed and games are played, Sapphire shepherds the performance oriented with ground-breaking solutions to an environment that remains in a constant state of flux and ultimate evolution. For over ten years Sapphire has held true to its unwavering commitment, the commitment to deliver the most feature rich and soundly engineered products.
