We all know that LGA1366 X58 motherboards are not new products. They’ve been out for some time now but have proven to have some longevity. While the P67 Sandy Bridge platform has made a big splash in proving to be a performance juggernaut, X58 still remains Intel’s flagship. After all, it’s the only platform that can handle a 12-threaded Core i7 980X.

The premium motherboard market is dominated by a handful of established companies, and Sapphire isn’t one that really comes to mind when discussing X58 products. While Sapphire has produced AMD motherboards, going with an Intel board is new to them. How? Interestingly, Sapphire managed to lure away much of EVGA’s motherboard design team. Considering that team produced a couple of very impressive premium X58 motherboards, it’s no surprise then that Sapphire is now launching the Pure Black X58. With a wealth of knowledge now, Sapphire might be a bit late to the X58 party, but as they say, better late than never.

The Sapphire Pure Black X58 is their first foray into the premium Intel motherboard market, and this board sports gorgeous styling, strong features, and impressive performance. But with a price tag of $300, it’s in for a very tough fight against some established companies and products. Can the Pure Black X58 measure up? Let’s find out.

Pioneers in a new era of how data is displayed and games are played, Sapphire shepherds the performance oriented with ground-breaking solutions to an environment that remains in a constant state of flux and ultimate evolution. For over ten years Sapphire has held true to its unwavering commitment, the commitment to deliver the most feature rich and soundly engineered products.
