Conclusion

Ultimately, I loved the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 headset. I fell in love with this headset after going over the documentation before I even took the headset out of the packaging. The amount of features alone would make me buy these. That’s not to say it’s the only thing I liked about them, they also look very cool. The all black finish highlighted by the blue LED indicators make this headset really stand out. Having a detachable microphone that is so easy to remove, earned major points for me as well.

Using the Kave XTD 5.1 headset for your everyday music enjoyment, watching YouTube videos or watching a movie can easily be done thanks to having multiple outputs to the headset or an external speaker system. This makes the headset even more practical for everyday use as well as gaming. As far as the volume is concerned: While wearing the headset with the volume maxed out, sounds weren’t overwhelming, nor did it hurt your hearing with it’s more reasonable peak volume level. At the same peak volume while sitting on the desk, it was still easy to hear the same crisp sound.

The comfort level of the Kave XTD was nothing short of amazing. My past experiences with over the head headsets constantly caused headaches and became unbearable after lengthy usage. The Kave XTD didn’t cause any pressure or tighten up and with the padded ear cups, they made it extremely comfortable while blocking out noises.

The only thing that I can really say that is negative (and is outright nit-picking) is the volume knob is a bit sensitive. Other than this minor issue, when it comes to the abundance of features packed into a single headset, you really can’t ask for much more. I rarely say this but the price really surprised me. The Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 headset was found at $169.99 with a 1 year warranty, but I expected it to be more. Based on the build quality and solid audio quality, when you take all of this into account we have a real winner. We proudly present the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 headset with the PureOverclock’s Editors Choice Award.
