Preview: ASUS P67 Sandy Bridge Motherboards
And so ends our sneak peek and first look at some exciting new products from ASUS for the upcoming Sandy Bridge launch. We’re not sure about performance or pricing of these boards just yet, so we can’t really comment on exactly how these boards will shake out in the marketplace for consumers. We can only go by the features we’ve seen and our extensive past history with ASUS, and if that’s any indication, then we’re really excited by what we see here. There’s something for everyone so far, and that bodes well for the new processors scheduled to come "soon".
When we look at what’s here on these 6-series boards, we’re very encouraged. The styling, features, and quality are all great so far. We do know that the ASUS overclocking utilities will be included on the Maximus IV Extreme, and we’re also encouraged by that. We have been very impressed by the BIOS options in the past on ROG products, and we expect more of the same here.
On that note, what’s really interesting is the new EFI BIOS. Frankly, we’re downright gut-wrenchingly anxious with what this could potentially mean for users. We hope it’s a game-changer, we think it will be, but we’ll have to wait just a bit longer to find out.
We’re very much looking forward to the new Sandy Bridge lineup, but for now these ASUS boards offer just a small taste of what’s to come. We’ll know "soon" enough though. Like a kid waiting for Christmas morning – Patience, we keep telling ourselves.
