"The HD 6800 series features the second generation of graphics technology from AMD designed to support all the features of Microsoft DirectX 11 and DirectCompute 11. The new GPU’s are built in AMD’s 40nm process to deliver high performance with low power consumption. Advanced hardware features include an enhanced Tesselation unit, dedicated HDR Texture compression, multi-threaded communication with system CPU cores, embedded support for many of the DirectCompute 11 instructions, 3D stereoscopic support and HDMI 1.4a."

One of the great features of the PCS++ 6950 is the dual BIOS setup. The first BIOS runs 800/1250 with 1408 streamprocessors, shown below:

The second BIOS is where things get very interesting and impressive; not only does it get an overclock on the core to 880MHz but also unlocks streamprocessors to 1536:

It is this second BIOS specfiications on the PowerColor PCS++ 6950 that makes it so unique with the additional stream processors, essentially making the card a Radeon 6970, albeit with slightly lower memory clocks. However, as we’ll see during our overclocking session, that’s easily taken care of with a quick overclock. So what PowerColor is doing here is basically giving consumers both a Radeon 6950 and 6970 on one card. Absolutely outstanding.

Let’s move onto the package and accessories.
